cdd: Centered double decrease

Slip two stitches together knitwise, knit the next stitch, then pass the two slipped stitches over it. A decrease removes stitches, so the stitch count at the end of the row is lower than at the start. Patterns usually state the new total in brackets.

How to work cdd

Slip two stitches together knitwise, knit the next stitch, then pass the two slipped stitches over it. The result is a symmetrical vertical line, often used in lace and mitred corners.

Common mistake

Slipping the two stitches one at a time instead of together; the decrease then leans.
